Turning major art exhibitions into true city events

Turning major art exhibitions into true city events

Tuesday 20 December 2016
To reinforce the theme of international city of culture, Rotterdam Festivals works together with museums on the ambition of turning major exhibitions into true city events. This year we invested in the Peter Lindbergh exhibition, which was held in Kunsthal: 'A Different Vision on Fashion Photography' . This resulted in additional events and more visibility thanks to city dressing. In the presence of Lara Stone and dancers of the Scapino Ballet, Peter Lindbergh opened his pop-up exhibition at Rotterdam Central railway station. The opening weekend was a spectacular success thanks to big names including Tina Turner, fashion designers Viktor & Rolf, Haider Ackermann, Julien d’Ys, Stephane Marais, photographers such as Anton Corbijn and Paolo Roversi and ten international super models who were in Rotterdam.

In the next few months, the exhibition will continue to be visible outside the museum walls. By joining forces with major events such as International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Art Rotterdam Week. For example, there will be artist’s talks, a book signing session, extraordinary sub-exhibitions and special guests in Rotterdam. Keep an eye on the social channels and the website of Kunsthal for future updates on the program.
