On the 27th of April the Dutch celebrate the Kings's birthday: Kingsday. For one day Rotterdam turns orange with fleemarkets, parties and, of course, festivals. There are fun events for every age. Check out the overview below and find out what Rotterdam has coming for you.
Kroonfestival - Willemsplein
Expect mainly house and deep house on several stages next to the Erasmus bridge. The full line-up hasn't been announced yet, but Michel de Hey and Tapesh will be there for sure. Early birds are already on sale.
Oranjebitter is one of the biggerst Kingsday festivals of Rotterdam. This party is known for its creative pop programming and over-the-top venue dressing. This year's theme is Kingpin. The line-up hasn't been announced yet. The presale starts February 6th with a bowling event
S' Oranje Festival
This Kingsday S'Oranje Festival goed eclectic! With an awesome stage, dj's, colourful entertainment and the most amazing beats Rotterdam will shake on its grounds. Ticket sale

Kralingse Bos Festival
This festival takes place in Kralingse Bos. Expect a broad line-up with (inter)nationally renomated artists. Early bird tickets
are already on sale.
Koningsdag - Stadhuisplein
The restaurants and cafes at Stadhuisplein
will be celebrating their own Kingsday festival. The Après Skihut, Get Back, The VIP Room, Café Beurs, Café De Vrienden Live, Scharrels & Schuim, Villa Thalia and De Waterskihut turn orange on the 27th of April. Free entry.
De Nacht van Oranje
At April 26th, the night before Kingsday, you can go crazy Dutch at De Nacht van Oranje. Here you can sing along with live acts by Dutch artists. Check out the website

is a small event at Spinozapark. There will be a Kingsday flearmarket where you can try multicultural snacks. Besides there will be performances by several Rotterdam artists. This festival is free of entrance.
On Kingsday lots of streets in Rotterdam will be occupied by fleamarkets (from 09:00 till 17:00). People place their plaids on the streets to sell their used stuff. You can find everything here: from second hand toys to vintage clothes, but there's also home made food and drinks. Between the stalls children play games and there are performances by street artists and small concerts. The biggest fleamarket is the one in the city centre around the Coolsingel, Hofplein, Hoogstraat en Blaak.
The yearly fair on Lloyd Multiplein at the Schiehaven offers more than sixty rides for every age. From the fair cafe to the shooting stall and from pancake stall to carousel. The fair will be there from Saturday 15 April till Sunday 7 May.
Leave your car home on Kingsday
You can park at one of the parking lots in the centre of Rotterdam, but the citiy will probably be really crowded and sometimes streets are closed down. Therefore, we advise you to take your bike or public transport or make use of the Park and Ride locations outisde the city centre.
