Festival heart Rotterdam Architecture Month lands on the roof of Het Nieuwe Instituut. Another attraction at great height designed by architects MVRDV. This summer, Rotterdam will have a unique, temporary platform from which to gaze at the city. The Rotterdam Architecture Month (RA Maand) and The New Institute are joining forces to build a city podium on the roof of Het Nieuwe Instituut. Architecture events will be held on Het Podium throughout June. The Podium can be visited free of charge via a lift and a gigantic staircase along the outside wall of the institute.

The neon pink installation with its imposing outdoor staircase was designed by architects MVRDV and offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience architecture, the city, the Museumpark and the institute from an entirely new perspective.

The Podium at The New Institute can be seen as a logical sequel to other impressive outdoor staircase installations designed by MVRDV. In 2017, for example, the firm already placed a gigantic staircase on Rotterdam's Stationsplein in the context of 75 years of the city's reconstruction, and the Rotterdam Roofing Days recently announced that it would be building a Rotterdam Rooftop Walk above the centre of Rotterdam this year, also designed by MVRDV.

Festival heart Rotterdam Architecture Month
The New Institute will be renamed Festival Heart of RA Month 2022 for the entire month of June. On 1 June 2022 it will be festively opened on Het Podium with an opening lecture by a well-known architect. This will mark the start of a month of festivals, lectures, talks, films, tours and exhibitions on architecture. The main exhibition of RA Month has found a fitting home in Gallery 1 of The New Institute. With the theme '(T)huis' (house), the main exhibition is in line with the theme of the Day of Architecture.
