The Russian music by composers such as Stravinsky, Prokofjev and Sjostakovitsj are the focal point of this festival.
Classical music with a twist
This festival edition pays full attention to the rich French music history. The two top conductors Lahav Shani and Valery Gergiev provide a special opening and will perform the concert for piano and wind instruments by Stravinsky together with the wind players of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. An unique event.
French masterpieces are combined with a commissioned composition by Thierry Escaich. Very successful artists from earlier editions such as Yulia Matochkina and Thierry Escaich also make their appearance again.
Furthermore, the Jussen brothers play a French program especially for the festival, in which Debussy and Ravel will not be missing. There is also a family show for children from the age of four. The festival concludes with the sizzling music drama La damnation de Faust.
