Film programme

During IFFR, Rotterdam is all about film! In movie theaters and other venues throughout the city- such as Rotterdamse Schouwburg, de Doelen, KINO, LantarenVenster, Cinerama, and Pathé Schouwburgplein-  you can find extraordinary feature films, documentaries and short films never before seen in The Netherlands. With over 500 movies to choose from, there is something for everyone, from potential blockbusters to visually stunning arthouse productions made by unknown directors. Check out the first films that have been announced here.

Special cinema days and events

Special package deals and preview days are offered during IFFR. For instance, there is “Taste the Festival”, with five special film introduction packages, including two festival hits and a surprise movie, especially for those who are having difficulty choosing from the wide selection. There’s also a Short Film Marathon and a whole day filled with family-friendly movies.

More than movies

Aside from a varied movie selection, IFFR is known for its many parties!  During the festival, every night is a hit: besides raging opening and closing parties, every night offers late-night festivities in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg.

You can choose to simply watch movies, but there are also many opportunities to talk with film makers and other professionals. Directors and actors are often present during screenings, sticking around afterwards to answer questions. Masterclasses, lectures and movie quizzes are organized as well.

Kids programme
Even the youngest visitors are provided for! Young movie lovers can visit Kids Only with their parents to watch a variety of short films, which includes a communal luncheon and a fun, movie related workshop, while their parents watch regular movies.

The complete overview of the different events can be found on the festival website.
