During the next few months, relaxing and chilling is a common theme at summer festivals. Parks, squares, fields, and even rooftops are transformed into complete festival settings. Plop yourself down and enjoy the sunshine!
Picknick spots 2.0
Of course, you can always roll out your picknick blanket at a random park, but there’s plenty of spots that offer a few extras! For example, settle down on the Grotekerkplein for the Danssalons: the ideal spot for people watching. Duizel in het Park brings you art and performances in the Vroesenpark. At DÂK you can barbecue on the rooftop of the parking garage behind the Witte de With.
Open Air Movies
This summer in Rotterdam, open air movie theaters are popping up all over the place! In July, Roffa Mon Amour returns to the roof of the Hofbogen, and in August you can find the Pleinbioscoop in Museumpark. For the real daredevils, there’s Jaws in de Kralingse Plas: bob around on an inflatable tire while watching the most terrifying shark in cinematic history.
Not in the mood to cook? Satisfy your cravings at one of the many food festivals. Food truck festival Rrrollend Rotterdam drops by with several editions. Enjoy food, drink, and live music by popular artists at CuliNESSE, or taste the culinary history of Rotterdam at Ketels aan de Kade. This year Rotterdam is filled with food trucks. In July The Food Convoy organizes a small foodtruck event every weekend at a different location.
